Walking the Talk, A Sacred Responsibility

My dearest relative, I carry you in my heart. My thoughts of you are filled with memories that I associate with love. You are constantly in my prayers. I humbly request that the Good Grandmothers and Good Grandfather of the four sacred directions watch over you and guide you. I pray that you find ways to create value in every encounter in your life and I humbly request that Creator send messengers into your life who will deliver their messages with kindness. I pray that those who bring you messages that stir stronger emotions within you, are quickly interrupted and internalized by you in such a way that enhances your growth. I pray that when you smudge, you do so with an open heart and open mind so that you can allow balance to return as our sacred traditional medicines bring revitalization of your energy. I pray that you recognize your own perfection; for you are a pure spirit dwelling within a physical body. I pray that the awareness that you are loved by a kind and gentle Creator be the first thought that enters your mind as you awaken and that this knowledge guides you as you have thoughts about yourself and others throughout the day. I pray that you follow your calling, your life purpose for it is your destiny, designed to create to add beauty in the world, powered by the magnificence of your dreams. With my heart, I say prayers for you with my love. I thank you for the blessing of walking with you in this physical world; our spirits are forever intertwined and the knowledge of that fills my spirit with gratitude. All my Relations. (ejh)

Elder's Meditation of the Day March 27

Elder's Meditation of the Day March 27
"...you have to believe it first. Not wait until you see it first, then touch it, then believe it...You have to say it from the heart."
--Wallace Black Elk, LAKOTA
We are designed to function from faith. First we pray. Then we use our imagination to create a vision or picture in our mind. We surround this mental picture with our emotions or feelings. These feelings are available when we ask or say it from the heart. The combination of the mental picture and asking from the heart to create the emotions will cause us to believe it. Then we just need to wait. We need to believe as though it is already done.
Great Spirit, remove from me any doubt that comes up today.

Elder's Meditation of the Day March 26

Elder's Meditation of the Day March 26
"In our modern world today, we may seem like drowning men because of the loss of much of our spiritual tradition."
--Thomas Yellowtail, CROW
Our spiritual tradition shows us the way to live in harmony, balance and respect. The tradition taught us how to behave and how to conduct ourselves. The spiritual way taught us to pray and to purify ourselves. Handed down from generation to generation were the teachings about a way of life. Our relationship to Mother Earth and to each other was very clear. The Modern World does not relate to spirituality but to materialism. If we do not allow spirituality to guide our lives, we will be lost, unhappy and without direction. We are spiritual beings trying to be human, not human beings trying to be spiritual. It is said, Know thyself.
Grandfather, lead me to spirituality.

OMG Chicken

Recipe:
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, pounded to 1/2 inch thickness

Lowry's Seasoning Salt

6 bacon slices
1/4 cup regular mustard
1/3 cup honey
2 Tbsp. Mayonnaise
2 teaspoons dried onion flakes
1 cup sliced fresh mushroom (I omitted because my family does not like mushrooms)

2 cup shredded Colby/Jack cheese
First, Sprinkle and rub the chicken breasts with seasoning salt. Cover and refrigerate for 30 minutes.

While the chicken is in the refrigerator, cook bacon in a large skillet until crisp. Remove bacon and set aside. ***Do not discard grease.***
Saute chicken in the bacon grease for 3 to 5 minutes per side, or until browned. Place chicken in a 9" × 13" casserole dish or pan.
To make the Honey Mustard: In a small bowl, mix the mustard, honey, mayonnaise and dried onion flakes.
Spread some of the Honey Mustard over each piece of chicken, then layer with mushrooms, crumbled bacon, and shredded cheese.
Bake in a 350° oven for 30 minutes, or until cheese is melted and chicken is done.
Serve with the left over Honey Mustard Sauce that you made.
